Join Friends of Schurz and Schurz High School for an evening with The United States Navy Concert Band, the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, as they present a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions, and modern wind ensemble repertoire.
Tickets for this event are FREE but you must reserve your tickets in advance.

Use the clues to find Bulldog footprints on 14 rocks hidden around the Schurz campus. Write down the letter on the back of each rock, and un-Schuffle the letters at the end to find the hidden message! Take a picture of your hunt and share it with the #SchurzSchuffle hashtag!
SPECIAL EVENT: Join us Saturday, October 24, 9-11 a.m. for the Schurz Open House and learn about all our school has to offer! Meet teachers and students from programs including grade 9-12 International Baccalaureate (IB); AVID; Dual Language; and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs including Allied Health, Automotive, Business & Finance, Digital Media, and Pre-Engineering.
No registration is required for this scavenger hunt, but participants are invited to support Friends of Schurz by registering for the virtual 3rd Annual Schurz Schuffle 5k.
Friends of Schurz invites you to a VIRTUAL neighborhood 5k through the Historic Old Irving Park neighborhood. Our fundraising events give Friends of Schurz the ability to support the teams, clubs, students and staff at Schurz, as well as connect us with the school community and community at large.

Race Information: Participants can run/walk wherever, whenever and however they choose. Run or walk inside, outside or on Frank Preo Field anytime between October 23 and November 1st.

Location: Anywhere you want! (You can try our suggested route in Old Irving available here.)
Registration: Registration fees are $25 for adults, $20 for teachers, and $10 for students, and includes Schurz Schuffle pandemic-themed t-shirt and collectible mask. You can register online with a credit card (plus fees) until 11/1/21. Race day registration will increase to $30 and will take place from 7am-9am. Race day payment can be CASH ONLY. **T-shirt supply is limited after October 23.**

Packet pickup: Friday, October 22nd from 6-8pm and Saturday, October 23rd from 8:30-11 a.m.

Choose a date and time where weather permits, and be cognizant of sidewalk conditions and traffic. Please take care to follow social distancing guidelines while completing your run. Maintain a safe distance (at least 6ft of space) between yourself and other runners whenever possible.
Interested in joining the FOS board? Meet current board members, learn about board responsibilities, and share how you'd like to help lead the org in the coming year. We have 2-3 positions open on the board of directors for the 2021-2022 school year. If you're a family member of a current Schurz student, an alum, or a community member looking to support your neighborhood school, we'd love to meet you! We're also eager to welcome bilingual (Spanish/English) members and folks interested in stepping into a treasurer vacancy within the next year. Tickets are $60 per person and proceeds benefit current Schurz students via Friends of Schurz:
$30 of your entry fee goes directly into the Bulldog Alumni Association account which allows us to support various programs and initiatives at Schurz, including (but not limited to) the music program, STLS (Students in Temporary Living Situations), the library, The Jerry Gallagher Fund and college scholarships.
$30 of your fee gets you all you can eat pizza, salad, pasta and sweets along with beer, wine and soda at the table.
There will also be a cash bar and Bulldog Raffle
Since 2013, we've raised over $35,000 for current Schurz students!
Schurz High School invites you to join us for a screening of Raiders of The Lost Ark at 8:30pm on the Schurz Great Lawn Friday, July 30th (rain date TBD).
ADMISSION IS FREE!
Running time for the film is 2 hours. This film is rated PG.
Our neighbor Café Gastronomo is providing delicious burritos for our concession stand! Supplies are limited, so make sure to come early! This month's concession proceeds will go to the Friends of Schurz general fundraising account which goes directly to support the students and staff at Schurz HS.
Social distancing recommendations should be observed.

No registration is required for this scavenger hunt, but participants are invited to support Friends of Schurz and the Schurz High School Students in Transitional Living Situations program by registering for the vitural 2nd Annual Schurz Schuffle 5k.
